We drove from Lagos to Ouidah, Benin, about an eight hour trip. It seemed like we spent half of it at the border, but it was really only about 2 hrs each way. Inspector John Ubah helped us out. (I think. Sometimes it's hard to tell who's on whose side.) Going through the border was no fun, and we ended up almost going home (back to the US) before we made it through. Unfortunately, the US was all the way back through the border, two more hours to Lagos, then a few hours to pack and then jump on a plane and then I'd have to find a new job, so by the time we got our passports back, it seemed easier to just keeping going to Ouidah. We had a nice time. Rooms were $120 per night, and we were right on the beach.

Great pictures! Looks like you had the beach to yourselves except for the livestock. Is that true? I've seen pictures o horses running along the beach but never cows. Do they ruin the sandy beach with their "leftovers"?
